The rain fell hard and fast throughout Bucks County on Monday night, but due to the nature of thunderstorm systems, the amount of precipitation varied.

Lee Robertson, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service, said Bucks County generally experienced a range of precipitation between one and a little over two inches Monday.

In Quakertown, according to data from the Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network, the amount of rainfall depends on what neighborhood you live in.

The network has two gauges collecting data in Quakertown, and whereas the gauge located by East Pumping Station Road and Richlandtown Pike only recorded 0.88 inches of rain in the 24 hours preceding Tuesday morning, the gauge located off of Route 309 and West Cherry Road recorded 2.09 inches.

If there was any trend in Monday's Bucks County rain, Robertson said, it would be that the southern end of the county had more consistent storms and rainfall than the northern part.

According to a public information statement issued by the National Weather Service at Mount Holly, New Jersey, Doylestown received 1.1 inches of rain Monday. The community network's records for rainfall in Churchville and Newtown, however, were 2.35 and 2.46, respectively.

"Different thunderstorms can move over different areas and impact one location more than another," Robertson said. "If you have thunderstorms trained over one area, you can have multiple storms move over one area and not over another, so it can really just vary on the system and where the thunderstorms move through."
