How much rain fell in the lower Hudson Valley between Thursday night and Friday?
Storms started in the region around 2 a.m. according to the National Weather Service, intensifying throughout the morning. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning Friday until 11:45 a.m. and issued a general flood advisory through 6 a.m. Saturday.
In addition to Gov. Kathy Hochul issuing a state of emergency Friday morning, Westchester County declared one, as did the cities of Mount Vernon, Yonkers and New Rochelle, as well as New York City.
