How much snow did Louisville and Kentucky get over the weekend?

Winter weather capped off the weekend in Louisville and around the state with a sheet of snow having fallen across the city overnight.

How much snow did Louisville get?

As of 8 a.m. Monday morning, according to National Weather Service Louisville meteorologist Kevin Farina, anywhere between a half-inch and an inch of snow had fallen in areas around the city.

Southern Indiana snow totals

Southern Indiana cities such as Jeffersonville and New Albany saw some precipitation as well, he said, but likely less than what fell in Louisville.

Lexington snow totals

As expected, other areas in Kentucky were hit harder, Farina said. Areas to south and east of Louisville saw higher totals, he said, with about three or four inches of snow recorded in Lexington.

"Further south and east of that, the totals would have gone up," he noted.

What's expected Monday?

Some flurries remained in Louisville early Monday morning, he said, marking a cold start to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. That snow is expected to taper off later this morning, Farina said, with temperatures in the mid-30s sticking around. Gusty winds in the 20 mph range will likely blow through the city today as well, Farina said.

Less than 50 power outages in Louisville were reported as of 8:15 a.m., according to Louisville Gas & Electric's outage map. Around the state, according to tracking website poweroutage.us, more than 14,000 outages had been reported, with most concentrated in the southeast corner of Kentucky.
