Mudflow Washes Away Trees After Heavy Rain in Northern California

A heavy mudflow carried entire trees down Whitney Creek in Siskiyou County, California, on Tuesday, August 2, prompting the sheriff’s office to issue a Flash Flood Warning in the area.

Footage from the Siskiyou County Office of Emergency Services Facebook page shows a heavy stream of mud traveling through the creek and carrying trees and other debris with it.

A post on the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Twitter said the berm holding the Whitney Creek was at severe risk of being comprised and had the potential to flood the Mount Shasta Vista area. The sheriff also urged residents to remain vigilant.
