Muir Boda will step down from City Council to be Salisbury's new housing director

Muir Boda, the Salisbury City Council president, announced Tuesday he has been appointed as the city's new Housing and Community Development director.

Boda has over 30 years of municipal and community experience as he now heads the department taking aim at city-wide homelessness and affordable housing options.

"I'm really interested in continuing my public service in a different way and looking for a more direct and day-to-day involvement," Boda said. "The role of this department is critical and touches so many aspects of like homelessness, youth and code enforcement. In being a part of this department, you're iimplementing legislation and delivering on the mission to reduce homelessness."

According to Boda, on Tuesday, Aug. 5, the council will select a new president, so his last day as president will be Monday, Aug. 4. He will begin his new position on Monday, Sept. 11.

"The council will have 30 days from Sept. 11 to find a replacement for my seat. They will look at résumés and applications and conduct interviews to fill the seat for the remainder of the term that ends in mid-November," Boda said.

In his role as the Housing and Community Development director, "Muir Boda will play an integral part in shaping the city's housing landscape, fostering economic growth and nurturing community development. His exceptional leadership and genuine dedication to Salisbury's betterment will undoubtedly pave the way for a brighter future for all its residents," the city of Salisbury said in a statement.

Boda's career has included 30 years of work with the Fruitland location of Walmart, and he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management & Leadership from Bellevue University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.

"Mr. Boda's deep-rooted connection to our city and his vast experience in leadership roles make him the perfect fit for the Housing and Community Development director position," said City Administrator Andy Kitzrow. "His passion for community enhancement and his extensive background will undoubtedly bring a fresh perspective to our city's growth initiatives."
