As always, Mulberry’s latest collection was an ode to everything British. Bags inspired by school lunch boxes were seen alongside floral tea dresses and plenty of ruffles. But there was a major velvety twist.

With the likes of younger stars like Anais Gallagher and Mary Charteris on the FROW, the heritage brand is entering a new era. Get the rest of the Mulberry gossip with our SS17 lowdown.

The Collection: After a lost identity, this was creative director Johnny Coca’s third season revamping the Mulberry brand. Although he stuck to its British heritage theme, Coca also branched out into newer horizons with wet-look velvets in stand-out shades of yellow and silver. Wintery hues and dresses reminiscent of Parisian collective Vetements strode their way down the catwalk - as did a number of striped collegiate designs.

It Bag: Coca is famed for his bag work at Louis Vuitton and Céline so it’s no surprise he’s spent the past year putting a new spin on Mulberry classics. For SS17, the brand’s most popular design - the Bayswater - was updated in a huge oversized style complete with school uniform stripes.

Killer Shoes: Footwear was a real highlight this season with angular mules and patent white boots providing a stunning contrast to flowing dresses.

Future Red Carpet Fave: This extreme knitted top and slitted skirt combo would go down a storm on someone able to pull off such a bright colour. Lupita perhaps?
