Multi-week closure of Duluth-bound side of Blatnik Bridge begins Thursday

Oct. 17—DULUTH — Motorists that use the Blatnik Bridge to travel to Duluth may need to reroute their trips for potentially a month as the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced Tuesday in a news release that the Duluth-bound side of the Interstate 535 bridge will be closed for two to four weeks, beginning Thursday, Oct. 19, at 6 a.m.

The closure is part of the Twin Ports Interchange project. Superior-bound traffic will not be affected by this closure. According to MnDOT's news release, when the closure is complete, northbound traffic through the Garfield Interchange Area will reopen to single-lane access for motorists headed to Duluth and allow for direct access onto northbound I-35.
