Multiple crews battle brush fire

Apr. 8—MANSFIELD — Firefighters from several area departments battled a brush fire in the woods on Stearns Road Wednesday afternoon that burned approximately two-and-a-half acres.

Mansfield Fire Department Acting Chief/ Deputy Fire Marshal Andrew Franklin said the fire was reported at 1:50 p.m. at 219 Stearns Road.

He said no one was injured during the fire.

Mansfield Fire Marshal/ Deputy Chief Adam Libros said this morning the cause and origin of the fire were still under investigation.

" There are other things that we need to look into," he said, noting that includes speaking with anyone who witnessed the fire.

Franklin said there was no indication the property owner was burning brush on his property.
