Multiple fire departments respond to fire at Bridgestone facility in Aiken County

Jul. 17—Saturday afternoon, police and fire rescue responded to a duct fire at the Bridgestone facility in Graniteville.

Graniteville-Vaucluse-Warrenville Fire Department chief, Alan Kneece, said units responded to "a small fire in the ductwork coming from a machine."

Kneece confirmed there were no injuries.

Emily Weaver, a representative from Bridgestone, said there was a "thermal event" in the facility and the fire was contained.

"It was a non-event, thankfully," said Weaver.

The Graniteville-Vaucluse-Warrenville Fire Department, Belvedere Fire Department, Merriwether Fire Rescue, Sage Mill Fire Department Langley Fire Department, County Line Fire Department and the Aiken County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene around 4:30 p.m.
