Multiple gunmen open fire in Illinois crowd, at least 13 shot
More than a dozen people were shot early Sunday morning after multiple gunmen opened fire in downtown Peoria, Ill., according to police.
The Peoria Police Department responded to calls of a shooting around 4:40 a.m. after a fight broke out in a crowd of almost 200 people, Peoria Police spokeswoman Amy Dotson said.
Two victims, an adult male with a gunshot wound to the neck and an adult female with a gunshot wound to the back, were found at the scene, according to the Peoria News Journal.
Both have been hospitalized in serious condition.
Eleven other victims with gunshot wounds self-reported to area hospitals. Their conditions are unknown but Dotson said none of the injuries were life-threatening.
Police have not released any information on the alleged shooters and it’s unclear if authorities have identified any suspects.
