Mummified Pharaohs Paraded Through Cairo During Move to New Museum

The mummified remains of 22 of Egypt’s ancient rulers were paraded through Cairo on April 3 before reaching their new home at the new National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation.

Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities broadcasted the two-hour “Pharaohs’ Golden Parade” live on YouTube, showing the mummies leaving the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir and moving through the capital in what local media reported were padded nitrogen capsules for safety.

The pharaoh’s procession was also captured by onlookers, including Salma Khattab who shot this video. Credit: Salma Khattab via Storyful
