Mum Blogger Pens Brutally Honest Post About Realities Of Breastfeeding

Type mummy blog in google and the results throw up thousands of parents charting the sometimes messy and often mundane highs and lows of parenthood.
But though some blogs reveal a glossed-up, filtered version of family life, when it comes to brutal honesty one mummy blogger can’t be topped. Constance Hall from Perth regularly updates her 448,000 followers about the often painful reality of life with little ones. And her latest post could well be her most honest yet.
Taking to her blog, Queens of Constance, the mother of four from Perth, Australia has opened up about what breastfeeding is really like, explaining that ‘it ain’t always glamorous and it certainly isn’t easy.’
’[When I started breastfeeding] I wasn’t expecting the royal f****** let down that for me was crying through the pain of bleeding, cracked nipples being sucked on innocently by a baby who was actually causing me unthinkable agony,’ she wrote.

In the frank post, which also includes a picture of her breastfeeding her twins, the 32-year-old reveals that she was excited to breastfeed her first child, but quickly realised it wasn’t going to be the easy, bonding experience she imagined mainly because not all babies are born with the know-how to suckle.
Describing teaching a baby to latch on as ‘hard and frustrating’ she went on to explain that she initially thought breastfeeding would be a way to strengthen the mother/baby bond, but when her twins ‘self-weaned’ themselves at 6 months, she found that their connection merely strengthened.
‘Did my bond with them change? No way, It strengthened,’ Constance wrote. 'My bond with all of my children has strengthened as I have felt calmer, more relaxed, better rested and with the twins, that relaxation came in the form of formula.
And the outspoken mum had something to say about the realities of expressing too, explaining that 'nothing is worth the ordeal’ of using a breast pump.

But mixed in with her honest observations about breastfeeding, there was an important message the blogger wanted to share with her followers, which she calls queens.
‘Don’t ever consider yourself failing at breastfeeding,’ she wrote. ‘Queens don’t fail. Some continue, some change their minds, some never wanted to and some have no choice. But none of them fail. Baby is fed? Queenie’s a success.’
Since posting earlier this week, Constance’s post has been liked more than 53,000 times on her Facebook page, and received thousands of positive comments, many from fellow mums who have also struggled with breastfeeding and wanted to thank the blogger for her honesty.

It’s not the first time the blogger has spoken out about the often uncomfortable realities of parenthood.
Her recent post on parental sex described the “3.5 minutes you get in between changing nappies and making food” to have some one-on-one time with your significant other while the kids are “distracted”, thrust Constance into the international spotlight. And last month she posted a picture of herself in just her underwear and encouraged other mums to join her in sharing unedited pictures of themselves to boost their self-worth.
Even Ashton Kutcher is a fan of her blunt musings on parenting, recently sharing an article about her on his Facebook page ‘Yes!’ ‘I love her approach to fellow parents!,’ Ashton, who is father to baby Wyatt with Mila Kunis, wrote.
Whether you agree or disagree with Constance’s approach to breastfeeding, in an online space flooded with insta-filtered parental blogs, her brutally honest take on family life does make for a refreshing read.
