Muncie man fatally shot Wednesday was son of 2018 slaying victim

MUNCIE, Ind. — Authorities on Thursday released the name of a Muncie man fatally shot early Wednesday in a home near Heekin Park on the city's south side.

Tristan Nathaniel Twilley Jr., 29, was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, in the 1300 block of East 10th Street, between Blaine and Penn streets.

Delaware County Coroner Gavin Greene said an autopsy would be conducted Thursday at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

According to Deputy Police Chief Melissa Criswell, officers were sent to the duplex where the slaying victim was found after gunfire was reported in the area shortly after 3:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Criswell said what appeared to be "several bullet holes" were visible at the scene.

She asked that anyone with information on the shooting to call the Muncie Police Department's detective division at 765-747-4867.

On March 30, 2018, Twilley's father — also named Tristan Twilley — was fatally shot as he was leaving a barber shop on the east side of Indianapolis.

The elder Twilley, a former Muncie resident, was 44 at the time of his slaying,
