Muralist to paint live during French Lick Art on the Green event next month

Artists and craftspeople will offer their creations for viewing and purchase Oct. 7, 8, and 9 at the annual Art on the Green event in French Lick.

Muralist Adam Long will work on a traveling mural, the first of several Art on the Green plans to set up at various events throughout Orange County and beyond. The mural will depict Charlie Biggs, a Chicago White Sox player born in French Lick in 1906, and By (Byron) Speece, born in West Baden in 1897, who played for the Washington Senators, Philadelphia Phillies and the Cleveland Indians.

The names of people who donate at least $1 to the project will be included in the mural's background.

Andy and K-9 Asher will be accepting donations for Food Basket Blessings on Saturday. Asher will pose for pictures.

Crafts for sale include pottery, lamp work glass, handmade jewelry, lapidary art, paintings, photography, primitives, soaps, wood carvings, boxes and bowls, fishing lures, leather works, garden art and more.

Food vendors will offer gourmet popcorn from Pop Around the Clock, homemade peanut brittle and fudge from the Zehnders's, tacos and authentic Mexican dishes from Titi's Munchie Shack, homemade ice cream from Brother B's, gourmet baked goods from Elle's on Elm Street and more. The Springs Valley Youth League will sell cotton candy and lemonade to help raise money for the West Baden Park improvement project. Adults can enjoy French Lick Winery's wines and bourbon in the wine garden on Saturday.

Art on the Green will beon Indiana 56 at the French Lick town green, across from the Historic French Lick Hotel and Casino.

Daily entertainment includes live walk-around performances.
