Murals, carts with cup, phone holders: Lantana Square Walmart rolls out remodeled store
A Walmart west of Lake Worth Beach is among dozens of locations to recently reopen under a massive redesign taking place at locations throughout America.
The Walmart Neighborhood Market at 6177 S. Jog Road in the Lantana Square shopping center was one of 117 Walmart stores to reopen this month, welcoming shoppers to new services and fresh facilities.
More than half a billion dollars went into remodeling and reopening the stores across 30 states. All of the ribbon-cutting ceremonies and other festivities took place Nov. 3 — Walmart's largest number of grand re-openings in a single day.
And they were part of a larger, ongoing plan to invest more than $9 billion in the modernization of more than 1,400 Walmart Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets over a two-year period, the retail giant announced.
Here's what's featured at the remodeled Lantana Square Walmart
The first thing shoppers might notice at the local Walmart Neighborhood Market is a new mural by artist Drake Arnold.
While the store is technically in suburban Lake Worth, the mural features landmarks and events in Lake Worth Beach to the east, including the William O. Lockhart Municipal Pier, the Lake Worth Playhouse and the annual Street Painting Festival.
Inside, the store now includes a designated pick-up area, including freezers and coolers, where customers can quickly grab their online grocery orders.
The addition of a health service room allows for private consultations and immunizations, and the pharmacy includes three new registers.
Here are some of the other changes announced at the local Neighborhood Market:
New shopping carts with holders for phones and cups.
Digital menus in the bakery and deli.
New bathrooms for customers and store employees.
Fresh paint throughout the store.
More room in the grocery section, including an expanded freezer area, offering customers more variety.
"Each store is designed to deliver a more modern shopping experience and improve the lives of our associates and customers from the moment they step into the new space," Hunter Hart, senior vice president of Walmart Realty, said in a recent announcement about the nationwide renovations.
