Murder arrest after man dies in city centre property

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of another man at a city centre property.

Police were called to a report of a man needing medical attention at Queens Terrace, in Southampton, just before 08:45 BST.

Emergency services attended the home and a 42-year-old man, from Southampton, was pronounced dead at the scene, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said.

A 54-year-old man, also from Southampton, was in police custody, the force confirmed.

Det Ch Insp Ross Toms said officers were "working hard to understand the exact circumstances of what has happened".

He said: "Based on the information currently available to us, we believe the people involved are all known to each other and that there is no wider threat to the local community."

Officers were conducting house-to-house enquiries on Sunday and were at the address in question, he added.
