A woman has been charged with murder over the death of a 90-year-old who was found dead in her own home.

The body of Myra Thompson was found by emergency services at a house on Bolde Way in Spital, Wirral, at about 11:20 BST on Tuesday, Merseyside Police said.

The force said Jane Hill, of Norwich Drive in Upton, had been charged with murder and theft.

It added that the 51-year-old had been remanded into custody.

A police representative said a 48-year-old man who was also arrested had been released with no further action in relation to the murder.

They added that he remained under investigation for theft.
