Murder suspect arrested in El Dorado County Cold Case from 1979

A man was recently arrested for a suspected murder that took place in El Dorado County in 1979 according to the district attorney's office. The DA said that El Dorado County investigators and the Spokane Police Department worked together to gather the evidence needed to arrest 63-year-old Harold W. Carpenter, whose DNA matched an unrelated crime in Washington state. Patricia Carnahan, the victim in the El Dorado County cold case, was found dead on Sep. 28, 1979, after being heated and strangled at a campground in South Lake Tahoe. According to the DA Carnahan's body was recovered and investigators gathered evidence, including a sexual assault kit which provided a DNA sample.
