----Franklin Regional homecoming bonfire

The annual Franklin Regional homecoming bonfire will take place from 5:30-8 p.m. Sept. 29 in the field outside FR Senior High School, 3200 School Road in Murrysville.

The evening will include the bonfire, games and activities for families, food and beverages for sale, club and team apparel and merchandise and performances from the FR band and cheerleaders. {

Proceeds will benefit individual clubs.

There is no cost to attend.

Brew to Brew 5K in Murrysville

The Murrysville-Export Rotary Club will partner with local breweries Devout, Yellow Bridge and Helltown to host the Brew to Brew 5K on Oct. 22 at Murrysville Community Park.

Proceeds will benefit local charities, with prizes awarded to first-place male and female runners in a 5K run/walk.

Post-race parties will take place at the partner breweries with food, discounted beer, live music and giveaways.

Registration is $45 — the deadline to register is Oct. 8. For more, email brewtobrew5k@gmail.com.

International Women meeting

The International Women's group will meet at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 7 at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church.

All women in the community are invited to attend. The program will be singer Brian Mahan, entertaining with a variety of songs from the 1960s and '70s.

The church's regular babysitting service has been suspended until further notice.

Westmoreland Conservancy fall events

—The Westmoreland Conservancy will host its annual "Autumn Enchanted Forest" hike, 11 a.m. Oct. 15 at the Morosini Reserve.

Find "fairy houses" and learn about the magic of nature. Hikers are encouraged to dress as their favorite sprite, fairy or woodland creature, and the event will include a craft to take home.

There is no cost to attend.

—The Conservancy's autumn hiking excursion will explore Cooper's Rock, W.Va. on Oct. 22.

The trip will depart from the Murrysview Shoppes on Route 22 at 8:30 a.m., heading to Cooper's Rock State Forest which features an old iron furnace, the work of the country's Civilian Conservation Corps and a wide variety of rock formations.

The group will stop for lunch on the way back, but hikers are encouraged to bring water and snacks.

'High Tea' to benefit Laird Hall

First Presbyterian Church officials in Murrysville will organize a "high tea" Oct. 23 to raise funds to replace the doors on the church's Laird Hall.

It will be from 1:30-4 p.m. at the Lamplighter, 6566 William Penn Highway in Salem. Tickets will be available through Oct. 16 at First Presbyterian Church, 3202 North Hills Road in Murrysville.

The tea will include quiche, muffins, scones and fruit, with an opportunity to win a wide variety of items as well as purchasing baskets of specialty items.

Norwin Chamber 'Okt-Chamber-Fest'

The Norwin Chamber will host an "Okt-Chamber-Fest" celebration from 5-8 p.m. Sept. 29 at Quinn Brewing in North Huntingdon.

The cost is $25 and proceeds will benefit the chamber's scholarship fund. The event will feature music, light food, raffle prizes and a stein-holding contest.

Rotary Oktoberfest set for Oct. 1

The Murrysville-Export Rotary Club will host its annual Oktoberfest on Oct. 1, 4-8 p.m. at the Murrysville Volunteer Fire Company pavilion, 3235 Sardis Road.

The evening will include German-style food, beer and wine from local food trucks and breweries, a dirndl and leiderhosen contest, "Wall of Beer" raffle and more and raffle for a 1986 Corvette.

The cost is $10 for adults only and includes a $2 food/drink coupon. Families and children are welcome.
