Murrysville area: 'Pilgrimage Jr.' tickets, glass recycling, local live music and more

Tickets on sale for 'Pilgrimage Jr.'

The Delmont Pilgrimage is expanding to include a session specifically geared toward children.

"Pilgrimage Jr." will be Dec. 2 from 2-4 p.m., where pre-school and elementary-age children can experience the Nativity while interacting with the angel Gabriel, Mary, Joseph, shepherds, wise men and animals associated with the Christmas story.

There will also be childrens' activities at the Delmont Public Library and an opportunity to take photos with Mary, Joseph and their donkey at Trinity Church.

Tickets are $6 for children ages 3-12. Children age 2 and under are admitted free.

There are only 150 tickets available, and can be purchased at DelmontPilgrimage.com.

Glass recycling event in Murrysville

Murrysville officials will host a glass recycling and food pantry collection event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 23 in the parking lot at Veterans Field, 4200 Sardis Road.

Volunteers from Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church's Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry will be on hand to collect nonperishable food items.

All colors of glass bottles, jars and jugs will be accepted. Non-accepted items include window glass, drinking glasses, dishware, ceramics, mirrors, light bulbs and TVs.

Corn maze opens

The Gearhard Farms corn maze is open through Oct. 29 in Murrysville.

The maze is cut into a different pattern each year, and participants are invited to try and map out the picture as they make their way through.

The maze is open Fridays from 5-9 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 9 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 7 p.m. The cost is $8 per person. Children ages 4 and younger are admitted free. Hayrides are also available for $6 per person. Group bookings are also available

'Trick or Treat on the Trail'

Murrysville Recreation officials are seeking vendors to sign up for the department's annual "Trick or Treat on the Trail" event, set for Oct. 28 along the Westmoreland Heritage Trail.

Businesses and organizations can sign up to distribute candy to participants. The department's goal is 50 vendors.

Visionary Committee to hold bike raffle

The Delmont Visionary Committee is selling raffle tickets for two bicycles.

The first, a Kona Coco HD Electric Bike features a hub drive motor and has a retail value of $1,999. The second is a Journey Sora 700CC, with an aluminum frame, waxwing carbon fork and a retail value of $1,299.

Raffle tickets are for $10, which will purchase five chances on the Kona or eight chances on the Journey. Winners will be based on the Pennsylvania Lottery's Pick 3 evening lottery on Nov. 9 for the Kona and Nov. 10 for the Journey.

All proceeds will benefit the committee's efforts to make Delmont more pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly.
