What’s on Will Muschamp’s social distancing Netflix watch list?

South Carolina football coach Will Muschamp is a man not often blessed with free time.

The coach who said Thanksgiving is more of a meal than a day can usually find some football-related way to spend his time, running many aspects of the program. But the current campus shutdown because of the coronavirus pandemic has him at home, and he said he’s dabbling in a time-filler much of the population is already entangled with.

“I embarrassingly will admit that I didn’t know much about Netflix until now,” Muschamp said. “But I do now. My wife and I watch Bloodline. That’s a heck of a show.

“We watched that every night for about two weeks. We worked through all three seasons of it. It was pretty good.”

The Kyle Chandler-Ben Mendelsohn thriller series is set in the Florida Keys and has 33 episodes.

Beyond that, the fifth-year Gamecocks head coach is finding one other positive use of the extra free time.

“I exercise a lot more than I’ve ever exercised,” Muschamp said.

He said he’s not dwelling too much on when things might get back to normal because there’s just no way to know. He did say he thought teams would need about an eight-week runway up to playing games.

And between Netflix and a better fitness regimen, there is still plenty of time for football-related activities.

“We’re working on a lot of football things,” Muschamp said. “Our first five days of spring ball, our opponents, we’ve got some different projects that we’ve assigned that we want to work through. And obviously, you’re always recruiting, always on the phone, texting, whatever the case may be, watching recruiting tape, comparing guys, ranking guys on the board.”
