Muscogee County School District names new principal for Mary A. Buckner Academy
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Muscogee County School District announced a new principle for the recently established Mary A. Buckner Academy on Thursday morning. The district says LaTonya Hamilton will take the reigns for the upcoming 2024 – 2025 school year.
Hamilton is a Hardaway High School graduate who went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Education from Valdosta State University. After that, she landed at Troy State University where she received her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and an Educational Specialist Degree.
Hamilton has over 24 years of education leadership, including a tenure at St. Mary’s Road Elementary Magnet Academy.
“I firmly believe that ALL students can learn by ensuring they understand the importance of the foundational skills learned through education. I am honored and excited to embark on this new journey as the Principal,” said Hamilton.
