Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office leads clothing donation effort for Columbus students

The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office along with partners Realtree and The Sock Shoppe helped spread holiday cheer and warm clothing to local elementary students this week.

The effort started when Trey Giles, the Athletic Director with the Southeast Select Travel Basketball Club, reached out to the sheriff’s office after he identified 40 local elementary students who didn’t have coats.

The sheriff’s office said they then reached out to Realtree, a clothing company specializing in camouflage style, which provided coats, gloves and hats for all the children in need. The Sock Shoppe donated all of the socks, according to the sheriff’s office.

The donations will go to students at Dawson and Forest Road elementary schools.

“Together, we look forward to bringing smiles and warm clothing to these young people,” read a post from Muscogee County Sheriff Greg Countryman’s Facebook page.
