Omar Al-Zobidy says the collection at

his 'Palace Museum' is worth $2 billion

The items were first obtained by his father

during an auction in 1965

"My father acquired all the paintings that were displayed at the public auction after King Saud was abdicated. The paintings, of course, are the most important works of Picasso, Monet and a large number of artists, including Michelangelo and Frans Hals. These works form the crown jewel in my collection that I keep today."

Al-Zobidy calls himself a defender of Saudi history

and hopes the museum will help to preserve it for future generations
