Jamal Musiala believes world champions Argentina should be Germany's role models as they try to get back on track and impress at the home European Championship next June.

Argentina lost their first game at the 2022 World Cup but regrouped and their togetherness negated any technical deficiencies as Lionel Messi's side lifted the trophy for a third time.

"You saw at the 2022 World Cup with the Argentinians what you can achieve together with that kind of spirit," Bayern Munich playmaker Musiala told Abendzeitung.

"Personally, I want to be European champion. You play a tournament to win it," he said, despite Germany's poor form over the last year.

"We have a home European Championship, you usually only experience a tournament like this once in your career. We all want to make sure that the whole of Germany is behind us on the pitch and that a great spirit is created. It's a huge motivation."

The 20-year-old, who has 25 caps, accepts his role as Germany's creative force.

"I have very high expectations of myself and my game," he added.

Musiala, who scored the late winner which sealed Bayern the Bundesliga title in May, is also targeting the Champions League final this term. Bayern face Lazio in the last 16 in February and March.

"The final this season is in London, at Wembley. It's a very special stadium for me, as I grew up in London," said the ex-Chelsea youth player, who could also have played for England alongside Bayern team-mate Harry Kane.

He hopes having free-scoring Kane in the side and some new recruits in January will help clinch a Bundesliga and Champions League double.

"In Harry Kane, we've got an outstanding goalscorer and I combine with him superbly," he said. "Our management is working on extending the deals of key players and further strengthening our team."

Bayern, four points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen but with a game in hand, resume their season after the mid-season break at home to Hoffenheim on January 12.

Musiala also said he is in no hurry to plan his future and is happy in Bavaria.

"My contract runs until 2026, so it's all very relaxed," he added.
