Music Academy for Special Learners Relocates To Hauppauge

The new location helps the academy accommodate its growing student population.

HAUPPAUGE, NY - The Music Academy for Special Learners has relocated from its long-time home in Ronkonkoma to a larger location in Hauppauge.

The new home on 49 Wireless Boulevard allows the Academy to meet the needs of its student population that has more than doubled over the past year.

Founded in 2007, LaMon combined her experience as an elementary school teacher with her musical talents to develop the programs offered at the Academy.

Using instruments such as guitar, drums, piano, saxophone, and voice, LaMon, her instructors and music therapists work with students to foster their music abilities and work on developing their non-musical goals as well.

“The success we have had with our unique music programs and music therapy programs over the years has led to continued growth in demand for the services we offer,” Maria LaMon, founder and president of the Music Academy for Special Learners said. “We have worked with hundreds of special needs students over the years and our music programs have served to sharpen their intellect and increase their self-confidence.”

Currently, Music Academy for Special Learners has a total of 180 students from communities across Long Island and Queens.

“To see how our students improve, not only with their musical abilities but also with other aspects of their lives is an absolute joy for my staff and me,” she said. “The success our students have is what drives us each day to continue to develop and expand our programs while also working to reach those that would benefit from our instructional and music therapy offerings.”
