MUSIC: Bob Stanhope to perform at Jacob's Well on Friday

Mar. 2—Jacob's Well Coffeehouse presents an encore performance by Bob Stanhope on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. with music starting at 7:30 p.m.

The coffeehouse will be held at The Oasis, a renovated 1800s storefront at 3 Elm St., in the Rockville section of Vernon.

Admission and refreshments are free. Dress is casual.

Stanhope is a songwriter, singer, guitarist and comedian from Putnam Lake, New York. His more serious material feels a bit like Billy Joel, Harry Chapin or Peter, Paul and Mary. His comic side could be likened to Weird Al Yankovic or Tom Lehrer. During the 1980s and '90s he was a morning personality on suburban New York City radio stations.

—The Phaeon Piano Trio will perform works by Haydn, Schumann, and Beethoven tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts, 2132 Hillside Road, on the University of Connecticut campus in Storrs.

The Phaeton Piano Trio is one of Germany's preeminent chamber ensembles.

The program will consist of selected trios for piano, cello, and violin.

Tickets range from $37- $40; through the Lenard endowment, UConn students, non-UConn students, and Connecticut youths younger than 18 may attend Jorgensen chamber events for free.

The Northwest Park Concert Series continues its' spring schedule with The Nields on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Northwest Park Nature Center, 145 Lang Road, Windsor.

Nerissa and Katryna Nields have been making music professionally since 1991. For twenty years, the sisters traveled the country as members of beloved folk rock band The Nields. —The Willimantic Orchestra will present a concert Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Eastern Connecticut State University Fine Arts Instructional Center, 360 High St.,Willimantic.

The program will feature Sam DiCaprio on the cello, playing Saint-Saens' Cello Concerto, and a performance of the Price Symphony No. 1.

Scott Chaurette will be conducting.

Suggested donation is $10 for adults at the door, students free; no one will be turned away.

—COMING UP

The third concert in the Intersections Concert Series 2022-23 season will bring world drumming traditions to the front.

Four groups will come together at the East Hartford Community Cultural Center on Thursday, March 9, at 7 p.m. to share drum-centered musical fusions from the African diaspora, including West Africa, Latin America, Brazil and American Jazz, Funk and Hip Hop.

—The Somers Cultural Commission's coffeehouse series concludes Sunday, March 12 at Piedmont Hall, 604 Main St.

The March program will feature the Healys, bringing us some lively Irish music, jokes., and stories from 1-3 p.m.
