Competitors in the inaugural Tennessean Music City Survivor League likely learned two lessons last week.

One: the Colts may not be any good. Period. Like, worse-than-the-Titans bad.

Two: Think twice before betting against Dallas Cowboys' defenseman Micah Parsons. He looks unstoppable so far this season.

After two weeks in the league, some Music Row hitmakers continue to thrive (looking at you, Lainey Wilson), while others recovered from an opening week loss (Natalie Grant moves on thanks to the Los Angeles Rams) and some saw elimination after only two weeks (a tough look in a double-elimination league).

Let's break down who's in and who's out ahead of a new football week.

Who's out: Three artists found the proverbial door last Sunday, earning the boot after two weeks: Old Dominion's Matthew Ramsey, who put his faith in the Cincinnati Bengals (and its awful offensive line) to beat the Dallas Cowboys; "Famous Friends" hitmaker Chris Young, who ended up on the wrong side of Colts-Jaguars (could anyone guess the Indianapolis offense would be that stale?); and LOCASH's Chris Lucas, who also wrongly trusted Matt Ryan's Colts to take care of Jacksonville.

Who's leading the pack: Out of 15 who joined the league three weeks ago, two remain undefeated: "Heart Like A Truck" breakout Lainey Wilson and "Backroad Song" entertainer Granger Smith. Wilson bets this week on the red-hot Eagles against a struggling Commanders team, while Smith puts his record on the line with the Kansas City Chiefs at Indianapolis.

This week's big bets: If Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs choke against the Colts, there may not be much of a league left next week. Five remaining players - Smith, Breland, Natalie Grant LOCASH's Preston Burst and Darius Rucker - believe Mahomes & company should take care of the less-than-impressive AFC South challenge.

In other picks, Kane Brown takes a swing with the fiery Buffalo Bills against a Miami Dolphins team riding the wave of an improbable week two comeback against the Baltimore Ravens. And two player - Jelly Roll and Scotty McCreery - believe Justin Herbert's rib injury shouldn't slow down the Chargers against the Jags.

About the Tennessean's Music City Survivor League

Country music fandom and NFL nerd-ery collide with the inaugural Music City Survivor League, a bragging rights tournament for the biggest football geek on Music Row. Artists pick one team a week each week of the NFL season. If that team wins or ties? They move on. If that team loses? They're in trouble.

We'll play double-elimination. If your favorite artist picks wrong this week, they may still have a fighting chance. No artist can pick the same team twice in a season. Last musician standing wins the league.

Follow along each week via Tennessean.com or in our weekly music newsletter, The Pick.
