Tom Brady holds the future of Music City Survivor League in his 45-year-old hands.

What could go wrong? After all, the Tom-pa Bay Buccaneers totally looks like a high-flying football team with a healthy offensive line and competent playmakers.

Oh, wait.

Despite persistent injuries and mixed-bag offensive play, two Survivor League players — Lainey Wilson and Brooke Eden — buy stock in Tom Brady and company to defeat the rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett and the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend. The stakes? If Brady and the Bucs fall to this struggling team, they're out of the league.

All four players survived last week, with Wilson notching the only loss — her first of the season in a double-elimination league (thanks to the Giants upsetting Aaron Rogers' Green Bay Packers in London). Elsewhere, Nashville native Mitchell Tenpenny places his pick this week on the Minnesota Viking to defeat a Miami Dolphins team struggling at quarterback after injuries to starter Tua Tagovailoa and backup Teddy Bridgewater.

Matt Stell rounds out this week's selections with what he believes to be a safe bet: The defending Super Bowl champion (and someway struggling?) Los Angeles Rams against a head coach-less Carolina Panthers team — one of the week's largest point spread differences.

Music City Survivor League week 6 picks

  • Brooke Eden (4-1): Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Matt Stell (4-1): Los Angeles Rams over the Carolina Panthers

  • Mitchell Tenpenny (4-1): Minnesota Vikings over the Miami Dolphins

  • Lainey Wilson (4-1):  Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the Pittsburgh Steelers

About the Tennessean's Music City Survivor League

Country music fandom and NFL nerd-ery collide with the inaugural Music City Survivor League, a bragging rights tournament for the biggest football geek on Music Row. Artists pick one team a week each week of the NFL season. If that team wins or ties? They move on. If that team loses? They're in trouble.

We'll play double-elimination. If your favorite artist picks wrong this week, they may still have a fighting chance. No artist can pick the same team twice in a season. The last musician standing wins the league.

Follow along each week via Tennessean.com or in our weekly music newsletter, The Pick.
