MACKINAW CITY — A Detroit-based husband and wife team will perform a 1960s revival set and a rock band promises a classic sound this weekend when Pinter Whitnick and Stonehengz take the stage at Mackinaw City’s Roth Performance Shell in Conkling Heritage Park.

Playing music from across several genres and selective originals, the husband and wife pair of Pinter Whitnick will perform at 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19.

At 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, the J. Hawkins fronted band Stonehengz will present its classic rock sounds. The group will perform its debut release "Embrace the Rock," produced by Grammy winning blues artist Jabo Bihlman (The Bihlman Brothers, Grinder Blues) out of Frontier Studios in Michigan.

The Straits Area Concert Band will perform show tunes, marches and popular music selections on Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Music in Mackinaw operates as a volunteer committee under the auspices of the Mackinaw City Area Arts Council, the Mackinaw City Chamber of Commerce and the Mackinaw Area Visitors Bureau. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for the one-hour shows, held in the park’s Roth Performance Shell.
