Music museum plans move to Beaver Valley Mall

CENTER TWP. – A western Pennsylvania music museum plans a move to the Beaver Valley Mall.

After a two-year run in Ambridge, the Performing Arts Legends Museum (PALM) hopes to relocate to the mall by May or June.

"We will be moving the entire PALM collection," co-founder Elbie Yaworsky announced in a Facebook post. "The Beaver Valley Mall has put forward a great proposal that could increase our collection space by 50 percent."

Wrapping operations in Ambridge last weekend, the PALM showcases musical instruments, stage costumes, and other historic artifacts by Beaver Valley music legends like The Jaggerz, the Granati Brothers, Henry Mancini and B.E. Taylor, plus chart-climbing Pittsburgh area acts such as The Skyliners, The Marcels, Perry Como, Bobby Vinton and The Vogues.

Yaworsky said the public's help will be needed for the PALM to function at the mall. The proposed location is near the mall's fountain.

"We need to raise the funding," Yaworsky said. "Our 2023 proposed budget is $11,640. Our hours of operation will dramatically increase from eight to 42 hours a week We will require a team of 14 volunteers to support those operating hours."

The PALM will launch an online GoFundMe campaign for financial support.

A month ago, Yaworsky announced the PALM would be closing and selling its original location, at 1426 Merchant St., in the Ambridge historical district, because its operators no longer were able to devote the time needed to keep the site open.

"It is clear that my 24/7 caregiving for my wife, Denise, is much more than a full-time responsibility," Yaworsky posted then. "This caregiving does not provide me the opportunity for any additional responsibilities. I must make time to care for myself so that I can provide the care that my wife deserves. It is with a heavy heart that we are selling the PALM."
