A Muslim woman was pulled off an American Airlines flight at Newark Airport on Saturday morning after she argued with another passenger, officials said.

The incident happened around 9:55 a.m., just as the Charlotte, N.C.-bound flight was scheduled to leave the gate.

A Port Authority source said the woman was acting disorderly and argued with a passenger. During the yelling match, her race and religion was brought up, the source said.

When asked to leave the flight, the woman refused unless the man she argued with was also asked to leave, video posted on Twitter shows.

“I am not moving unless he is also moving,” the woman said. “Otherwise why are you taking his word over mine? Because he is in first class? If you are kicking me off you have to kick both of us.”

Port Authority police then emptied the entire plane and took the woman into custody.

The rest of the passengers were allowed back on and the flight left around 11 a.m., said authorities.

“Had to get off my flight because a man asked a Muslim woman to get off the plane. @AmericanAir employees followed his request and gave the woman no explanation,” wrote Twitter user Jake who posted the video.

American Airlines did not immediately return a request for comment.
