Mustang baseball rips through Perry

Jun. 5—PRAIRIE CITY — Easton Webb blasted a three-run homer, Trenner Van Dyke registered a complete-game win on the mound and PCM's baseball team thumped Perry, 15-0, in four innings during Heart of Iowa Conference play on Friday.

The Mustangs (3-4 overall, 3-2 in the HOIC) had 12 hits total and nine players collected at least one hit.

Durant Van Dyke led PCM's offense with three hits, one triple, two runs and two RBIs. Jacob Wendt had two hits, two runs and one stolen base, Gavin Fenton tripled, scored one run, walked once and was hit by a pitch and Webb crushed a three-run homer and stole a base. It was the second homer of Webb's career.

Aiden Robbins registered one hit, one run, two RBIs and one steal, Trigg Steenhoek collected one hit, two runs and one RBI and Nick Farver added one hit, two runs, one RBI and one walk.

Zeb Padget and Will Owens each had one hit and one RBI. Owens' hit was a walk-off double in the bottom of the fourth.

Gabe Hobbs walked twice, scored one run and stole one base, Carson Hansen scored two runs and Alias Nolin had one run.

Trenner Van Dyke walked once and stole one base. He also earned his first career varsity win on the mound, allowing no runs on two hits with three strikeouts and no walks in four innings.

Perry fell to 0-6 on the season and the Bluejays are 0-4 in conference play.

Roland-Story 8, PCM 3

STORY CITY — PCM couldn't hold onto a two-run lead during an 8-3 road loss to Roland-Story on Tuesday.

The Mustangs led 3-1 after three innings, but the Norse scored five in the fourth and two in the fifth to stay in front for good.

PCM cranked out seven hits total. Fenton had two of them and he finished with one double, two RBIs and was hit by a pitch.

The other hits came from Steenhoek, Farver, Webb, Owens and Hobbs.

Steenhoek drove in one, Owens walked once and scored one run, Webb was hit by one pitch and Hobbs scored one run.

Padget registered two walks, was hit by a pitch, scored one run and stole one base. Durant Van Dyke drew one walk.

Van Dyke took the loss on the mound after allowing six runs — four earned — on six hits with four strikeouts, four walks and one hit batter in four innings.

Webb pitched two innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits with one strikeout, one walk and one hit batter.

Brett Schmitz led Roland-Story (6-3, 5-0) with four hits, two doubles and four RBIs. Roland-Story pitching struck out 10 batters and the Norse had 10 hits at the plate.

Greene County 14, PCM 3

PRAIRIE CITY — The Mustangs held another 3-1 lead, but Greene County rallied in a big way during a 14-3, five-inning win on Wednesday.

PCM led 3-1 after three, but Greene County plated six in the fourth and seven in the fifth to end the game early.

The Mustangs were limited to five hits. Hobbs had two hits and blasted a solo home run. It was the first varsity homer of his career.

Durant Van Dyke, Farver and Steenhoek each had one hit. Van Dyke added one RBI and was hit by one pitch and Farver scored one run.

Fenton walked once, Webb drove in one run and Kaleb DeVries scored a run as a courtesy runner.

The Rams (3-6, 2-1) finished with 14 hits and committed two errors. Max Riley led the way with three hits, three runs and three RBIs.

Joe Carey tallied two hits, two runs and two walks and Blake Hamann registered two hits, two runs and three RBIs.

Bryce Stalder earned the win on the mound, allowing one earned run on four hits with seven strikeouts, one walk and one hit batter.
