Myanmar's Suu Kyi gets more jail, hard labour
STORY: Myanmar's ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi was found guilty of electoral fraud on Friday.
According to a person familiar with the matter, Suu Kyi was sentenced by a judge to three years in jail with hard labour.
Suu Kyi - the figurehead of Myanmar's opposition to decades of military rule - has already been sentenced to 17 years in prison.
The election this latest case relates to was in November 2020 when Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy won an overwhelming majority.
Months later, in February 2021, the military seized power in a coup to stop Suu Kyi's NLD from forming a new government.
She has been detained ever since and has been on trial for more than a year on multiple charges - ranging from corruption and incitement to leaks of official secrets.
She denies all the allegations against her.
Her trials have been held behind closed doors in the capital but the junta has said she is being given due process.
