MyCar Locator Free review

MyCar Locator Free lives up to its promise of being one of the easiest to use car locators for Android, enabling you to remember the exact spot where you've parked your vehicle with the push of a button, and then providing quick directions back to it, as well as a compass.

Pros

Straightforward and useful: Devoid of the sophistication of other similar apps, MyCar Locator Free can help you find your car in no time, provided that you push a button to remember your car's location before leaving it. Alternatively, you can use this app to remember the location of just about anything else, though you are limited only to one item at a time.

Two view modes: The satellite view mode uses Google Earth 2D, offering good quality graphics and a high level of detail that helps with navigation. The map mode using Google Maps may be lacking the details of the satellite mode, but loads faster and works even on a slower Internet connection.

Useful parking features: In the top-left corner of the app's map window you'll find a button for leaving short parking notes or reminders, like the spot number or floor, and another button for counting the time since your car has been parked there.

Cons

GPS reliant: Like most other GPS apps, this one needs a strong GPS signal to work and, moreover, occasionally seems to have trouble recognizing it. The developer warns that getting GPS inside a building is unlikely even in a parking garage, so before launching this app we recommend you go outdoors.

Not for forgetful people: If you forget to push the button to remember the location of your car before you leave it, the app becomes useless. If you've already lost your car, you can't use this app to find it.

Bottom Line

MyCar Locator Free works well, being a timesaver whenever you go shopping or to a concert and leave your car parked in an unfamiliar area or crowded parking lot. The small banner at the bottom of the screen doesn't get in the way, so you don't have to pay to remove it. You can enjoy this app for free.
