Myers Industries Inc. has bought a Georgia factory from Streetsboro-based toymaker Step2 Co. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Myers Industries, a polymer products maker and specialty tool distributor based in Akron, bought Step2's 41,000-square-foot rotational molding manufacturing facility in Decatur, Ga. The facility will support new and existing Myers customers in the southern United States, the company said in a news release.

Step2 announced in 2020 that it bought the Decatur facility, which at the time made the company's Neat & Tidy Cottage and other items.

The acquisition is part of Myer's plan to expand its rotational mold capabilities. The factory will be part of the company's Material Handling Segment, which makes products for outdoor recreation, construction, vehicle, and industrial applications, the company said.

Rotational molding is a process that involves places a substance, typically a polymer, into a hollow mold and then rotating the mold as the substance is first heated and then cooled to maintain a uniform thickness.

“This marks our third meaningful investment in rotational molding in under two years and strengthens our position as a valuable partner for our rotational molding customers within our Material Handling Segment," Mike McGaugh, president and chief executive officer, said in the release. "We look forward to integrating this location into our Myers footprint and accelerating our organic growth efforts.”

The two other related acquisitions were the purchases of Elkhart Plastics and Trilogy Plastics.
