Myrtle Beach named “Buddies Trip” spot by national golf tournament series

Myrtle Beach has been named the official “Buddies Trip” location of a national golf tournament series.

The Barstool Classic, a golf tour that touts itself as a tournament for the common golfer, has players enter as a pair and kicked off its event in Myrtle Beach on March 6 at True Blue Golf Club in Pawleys Island.

The 25-event series continues in several different states and in Canada through September.

The tournament series recognized Myrtle Beach as “golf’s most popular destination” when giving the city the designation, according to a press release.

Home to more than 80 award-winning golf courses, Myrtle Beach is known as the golf capital of the world, according to Playgolfmyrtlebeach.com, an online golf resource.

Barstool Classic began its relationship with the area in 2022 when the Fore Play podcast team brought its travel series here, spotlighting Pine Lakes Country Club, Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club, TPC Myrtle Beach and True Blue, according to the statement.

The YouTube series included four videos that have all generated in excess of 125,000 views, according to the statement.
