Myrtle Beach water park will get a new slide for the 2024 season. Here’s what to expect

Myrtle Waves Water Park is adding another waterslide to the park.

The Myrtle Beach water park, located at 3000 Mr. Joe White Ave. near Broadway at the Beach, will open the slide for the 2024 season.

Christina Watts, director of marketing and advertising for Lazarus Entertainment Group, said it is a mat slide, meaning people will lay on a mat on their stomachs and slide down head first. Up to four people can go down the slide at the same time.

If this slide seems familiar, that’s because it is. The slide was taken from Wild Water and Wheels, a Surfside Beach water park that closed in 2022. The two water parks are owned by Lazarus Entertainment Group. A new company bought the old water park and is now redeveloping the land.

Watts said since Wild Water and Wheels closed, they have seen more people signing up for season passes. Adding the waterslide will help with the increased foot traffic to the park. It will also allow the water park to add more cabanas and shaded areas.

Myrtle Waves has over 20 waterslides, along with a wave pool and a lazy river. Altogether, it holds 1.2 million gallons of water. The water park opened in 1985.

In the offseason, Myrtle Waves is also doing some repainting to give the water park a more cohesive theme and feel. The water park will reopen in May.

“It’s going to be a wonderful summer at Myrtle Waves,” Watts said.
