In-N-Out to come to Albuquerque by 2027

Nov. 7—New Mexicans won't have to dream of having their own In-N-Out Burger anymore.

The burger chain said it is in the "early planning stages" to bring its famed burgers to New Mexico, with locations expected to open in Albuquerque by 2027, according to a statement emailed to the Journal.

In-N-Out said a distribution facility in Colorado Springs "will enable delivery of fresh products to each location," a key point in keeping with In-N-Out's tradition of quality control.

"Growth into New Mexico is an important milestone for us," In-N-Out Owner and President Lynsi Snyder said in a statement. "We've heard from many loyal In-N-Out customers there through the years, wondering if we would ever open restaurants in their communities, especially after opening locations farther to the east. It was only a matter of when, once we had the infrastructure and support in place. I'm excited that our customers won't have to travel to a nearby state for an In-N-Out Burger for much longer."

In-N-Out also said there will be future expansions into other cities, though it didn't clarify which ones.

The burger chain, known for its simplistic menu of burgers, fries, soft drinks and milk shakes, has hundreds of locations spread across California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oregon and Colorado. The chain was founded by Harry and Esther Snyder in 1948 and its corporate offices are in Irvine and Baldwin Park, California.

It is adding new locations at a fast rate. The company recently announced new restaurants in Idaho and Tennessee.

After opening its first store in 1948, it was 40 years before it opened its 50th restaurant in 1988. It opened its 100th restaurant in 1994, its 200th in 2005 and number 300 opened in 2015.
