In-N-Out expansion project to ease traffic congestion on Bear Valley Road in Hesperia

In-N-Out Burger officials are hoping that a proposed expansion project eases traffic congestion as customers drive onto the restaurant property on Bear Valley Road in Hesperia.

For years, a temporary sign placed by In-N-Out near the restaurant's entrance on Bear Valley Road has requested customers to not block the intersection. That request has mostly been ignored, resulting in cars lining up to enter In-N-Out property while stalling traffic on the No. 3 eastbound lane of Bear Valley Road.

The backups on Bear Valley Road often occur during lunch and dinner times, and weekends for the one-lane drive-thru.

Long lines at the drive-thru often prevent drivers from entering or exiting parking spaces at the existing restaurant east of Hesperia Road.

Expansion plans

In-n-Out’s expansion solution at store No. 72 includes adding two drive-thru lanes and nearly two dozen parking spaces on the property that is situated adjacent and south to the existing property.

The new property would also include 11 parking spaces for RVs and longer vehicles on the undeveloped property north of Sequoia Street.

The nearly 2-acre property is sandwiched between Mesquit's Vacuums & Janitorial Supplies and an Airgas Store.

A public alley divides the existing restaurant property and the new parcel on Sequoia Street.

In-N-Out Burger No. 72 is located at 17069 Bear Valley Road in Hesperia.

The City of Hesperia’s Development Review Committee discussed the project on Feb. 21 before handing the item to the Planning Commission.
