N95 Mask Drive-Thru Saturday For Oak Creek Residents

OAK CREEK, WI — The City of Oak Creek is planning on distributing free N95 masks to residents at a drive-thru event on Saturday at Oak Creek West Middle School, 8401 South 13th Street.

The event is scheduled for 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Early arrivals will not be able to access the site and cars will not be able to line up ahead of time, the city said on its website.

Ten N95 masks will be distributed to each vehicle while supplies last, the city website said. If properly maintained, the masks can be used multiple times.

"N95/KN95 masks are reusable if properly sanitized between uses," the Oak Creek Health Department website reads.

"To sanitize an N95 or KN95 mask, remove the respirator and place it in a breathable paper bag. Close the bag and allow it to sit at room temperature for at least 72 hours before reusing the mask. This process can be repeated but should not exceed five times before discarding the mask."

Here's what you need to know, according to the city's website:

  • You may need proof of Oak Creek residency.

  • Enter at the school's north entrance.

  • Traffic will exit at the school's south driveway, and no left turns will be allowed.

  • Volunteers will help to direct traffic to the distribution point.

  • "All traffic for this event will only be allowed to enter from the southbound lanes of South 13th street. No left turns will be allowed in front of West Middle School. We recommend that anyone participating in this event turn south on 13th Street from Rawson Avenue or Drexel Avenue," the city website says.
