East Texas roads flood during severe weather, evacuation urged for some

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KETK) – Several East Texas Roads have flooded following this weekend’s severe weather and Nacogdoches has asked some residents to consider evacuation.

The City of Nacogdoches said that residents near Banita and Lanana creeks should consider evacuating as more rain is potentially on the way. According to the city, the creek’s water levels are already rising and have nearly reached their banks.

The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office said the following roads have been closed by flooding:

  • CR 302 at Hughes Bottom

  • CR 392 at the bridge

  • CR 112

  • CR 116

  • CR 234

  • CR 271

  • CR 274

  • CR 280

  • CR 425

  • CR 525

  • CR 526

  • CR 620

  • CR 831

  • CR 841

  • 3700 block of FM 2782

The Westside Fire Department near Palestine said that County Road 2212 at Keechie Creek will be closed due to water in the road.

The sheriff’s office added that these roads have reopened after flooding:

  • CR 120

  • CR 230

  • CR 228

  • CR 411

  • CR 434

  • CR 438

  • CR 528

  • CR 529

  • CR 538

  • CR 711

  • State Highway 21

The Texas Department of Transportation said the following East Texas roads have reports of flooding:

  • FM 138 at Huana Creek in Shelby County

  • FM 357 at Cribb Creek near the Trevat Community in Trinity County

  • FM 357 at WH Tullos Road between Nogalus Prairie and Centralia in Trinity County

  • FM 352 west of Creeds Creek in Polk County

  • FM 2782 in Nacogdoches County

The sheriff’s office added that the heaviest rain will be moving east out of the county soon but rain will continue throughout the night and that more thunderstorms are expected on Sunday.
