Nagel named Cambridge Trooper of the Year

CAMBRIDGE − Trooper Connor S. Nagel has been selected by his peers as the 2022 Trooper of the Year at the Cambridge Ohio State Highway Patrol Post.

According to Sergeant Todd Henry, "Trooper Nagel illustrates what it takes to be an Ohio State Trooper and leader among his coworkers. He has the technical knowledge to get the job done and the drive to follow it through to completion. He maintains good morale and gets along well with others. He communicates with others clearly and convincingly, both verbally and in writing.

He demonstrates resourcefulness and an enthusiastic work ethic in accomplishing division goals and objectives. Trooper Nagel maintains the image of a trooper in good health and is physically fit. His uniform and equipment are always pristine and well-maintained. Ultimately, Trooper Nagel best exemplifies the professional and leadership qualities of a trooper. These include honesty, sense of urgency, team-oriented, attention to detail, self-discipline, adaptability, performance driven, professionalism, and officer safety."

Nagel is a 2010 graduate of Lemont High School in Lemont, Illinois where he was a star athlete in football and wrestling. After high school, he received a football scholarship at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, where he played linebacker for the Bulldogs for four years. In 2013 he received Second-Team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors. While attending Truman State University, he earned a bachelor's degree in justice systems with a minor in psychology.

Nagel joined the Ohio State Patrol in 2017 and is a graduate of the 162nd Academy Class. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the St. Clairsville Post and in 2021 he transferred to the Cambridge Post. He received the Criminal Patrol Award in 2019, 2020, and 2021. He was also selected as the St. Clairsville Post Trooper of the Year in 2020.
