'Name your price' to adopt a dog at Larimer Humane Society through Sunday

Puppies Max and Lady play in a holding area at the Larimer Humane Society in Loveland in 2019.

From now through Sunday, May 28, the Larimer Humane Society is inviting potential adoptive families to name their price to adopt a dog 1 year or older.

Here's how it works: Once you find your new best four-legged friend and are ready to adopt, let the frontdesk know the price that works best for you, giving you a little extra spending money for initial expenses whenbringing home your new family member.

All adoptable dogs can be viewed at larimerhumane.org/adopt-a-pet/adopt-a-dog/.

Larimer Humane Society is closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29. All dogs are given a general medical exam before adoption. The adoption fee also includes:

  • Preliminary vaccinations

  • Microchip implant and registration

  • Collar and leash

  • Spay or neuter surgery

  • Complimentary post-adoption medical exam from a participating veterinary clinic

  • Complimentary first month of pet health insurance

  • Discount on your first purchase from Poudre Pet & Feed Supply

With summer approaching, the humane society typically sees an uptick in adoptable animals. With animals coming in faster than they're being adopted, the promotion ensures cost is not the barrier to adoption.

The humane society's behavior team and client services team are available during business hours to answer questions about a specific dog and whether he/she could be a good fit for your home. It also hosts a behavior help line for anyone to call and ask questions or share concerns about their pet’s behavior.

Client services can be reached at 970-226-3647, Ext. 0; the behavior help line is at Ext. 5130.

The Humane Society is located at 3501 E. 71st St., in Loveland. It is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
