UPDATE WITH NAME: Rochester teen killed in Goodhue County crash Sunday

Apr. 5—A Rochester teen was killed and a 22-year-old man was seriously hurt in a car crash early Sunday.

Haya Ambreen Mahmood, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene after the car she was in crashed and rolled on U.S. Highway 52 in Goodhue County at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday near mile marker 92. The teen's name is not yet being released.

The driver, Daniel Desmond Yeung, 22, suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash. According to preliminary reports, Yeung was heading north when he drove the 2013 Kia Soul into the median and the car rolled across the southbound lanes of traffic. Yeung was not wearing a seat belt, according to reports.

State patrol reports Yeung was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys Campus with life-threatening injuries. Alcohol does appear to be a factor in the crash, the report shows.
