'Your Name' studio produces anime to commemorate 1st Pokémon World Championships in Japan

The Japanese film studio behind several Makoto Shinkai films has recently produced a short anime to commemorate this year’s Pokémon World Championships.

About the anime: The one-minute video, which was released on Sunday, shows different Pokémon players from around the world in the Japanese city of Yokohama.

CoMix Wave Films, which has previously worked on “Weathering with You,” “Suzume,” “Your Name” and several other anime films, created the colorful promo.

About the Pokémon World Championships: The annual invite-only esports event, which has been around since 2004, will take place in Japan for the first time this year. It will be held in Yokohama from Aug. 11 to Aug. 13.

Participants will compete with other skilled players to find out who’s the very best in “Pokémon Scarlet and Violet,” “Pokémon Go,” “Pokémon Unite” and the Pokémon Trading Card Game (Pokémon TCG).
