Names&Faces: Penn State annual Purse Bingo event set for this weekend

Feb. 3—This week, staff writer Laura Rysz talks with Nikki Paolicelli about the upcoming Penn State Scranton's annual purse bingo event, which raises money for THON, the Four Diamonds Organization, and to benefit Arelis Rodriguez.

Residence: Pittston

Educational background: Earned a bachelor's degree in business management and marketing from Penn State Scranton. As a student, I was heavily involved in student activities and THON. Prior to working at PSU, I worked as an executive team leader for specialty sales at Target.

Title: Student activities coordinator and THON adviser

Q: What will be on hand or is included at the event?

A: 50/50 raffles, 40-plus basket raffles, four special bingo games (for an additional $5 per game), $25 entry fee gets you in for the regular 16 games of bingo. There will be snacks and drinks for purchase as well.

Q: What brands of purses will you have on hand?

A: Michael Kors, Coach, Kate Spade, Dooney & Bourke (special Penn State design).

Q: What is your fundraising goal?

A: $10,000.

Q: How will proceeds be used?

A: All proceeds go directly to THON, the Four Diamonds Organization and help our campus THON child, Arelis Rodriguez.

Q: What is unique about this event?

A: This event is unique because of how big it really is! We are grateful to all community members, family and friends that continue to show up and support our efforts for THON. This is where being part of the Penn State family is so impactful and rewarding, because everyone truly comes together to support when needed.
