Naomi Campbell Says She Was "Blushing" the First Time She Met Princess Diana

Royal fans already know this tidbit, but for anyone who might have forgotten about Prince William's affinity for '90s supermodels, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford got together to talk about a very special surprise for the future king of England that involved a very royal birthday and what seems like the entire cast of George Michael's "Freedom!" music video. Anyone who saw the 2017 HBO documentary, Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, could recall that William said that he was a "12- or 13-year-old boy who had posters of them on his wall."

The supers reminisced about surprising William at his birthday party, something that Campbell coordinated with Princess Diana.

The two models remembered their time with Princess Diana, too, with the two of them bringing up fond memories and recalling how warm and welcoming she was.

"Did he blush when you met him?" Campbell asked.

"I think he was 16 when I met him," Crawford replied. "I don't remember but, look, I was blushing. I was so intimidated meeting Princess Diana and being at Kensington Palace and just how completely down-to-earth she was because there’s so much protocol I guess, and not being English, I don’t understand some of it."

Crawford said that she even remembers what Diana was wearing.

"I feel like she was in jeans and like a cashmere sweater and almost that vibe of being super laid back," she said. "So I also was probably a little, I mean it was uncomfortable, but it was sweet. It was a very sweet day and a great memory."

Campbell remembered that same warmth, saying, "Loved Princess Diana, I just loved her. Humble, how down-to-earth and I’m just blessed to know her for the time that I did."
