Napa Valley winery to open tasting room in Paso Robles. Here’s what to expect

A Napa Valley winery known for its eclectic vintage service station space is set to open a tasting room in Paso Robles.

According to a news release, the family-owned Tank Garage Winery will open its second California “filling station” in downtown Paso Robles, at 840 13th St., in the spring. It’s the first expansion for the winery, which according to the release “has long loved and made wines from Paso Robles and the Central Coast region, and aims to offer guests a new opportunity to experience Tank.”

The original Tank Garage Winery opened in 2014 in a restored vintage service station in Calistoga. It featured a “diverse collection of small-lot wine blends” from around California, according to the release. The success of the original location inspired the brand to seek more opportunities for locations throughout the state, the release said.

“Tank loves the Paso Robles wine region, and we are thrilled to join this incredible community of people and vineyards,” co-founder James Harder said in the release. “It has been a dream to bring Tank to a new location in California, and Paso Robles is a perfect fit. We believe Paso Robles is one of the preeminent destinations for wine, and we hope to be a positive contributor to their community.”

Harder added: “Our motto from the start has been to ‘Never Dream Alone,’ so we are stoked to open our second location in Paso Robles this spring.”

What will new tasting room feature?

According to the release, the Paso Robles “Filling Station” will offer “a new, yet familiar way to experience Tank’s unique wine blends, stories and cool California vibes.”

Similar to Tank’s original location, the new tasting room will feature a “Lubrication Bar” in the front room with a mechanic aesthetic and vintage Indian motorcycle. It will also have a “Backstage Lounge” in the back with a vintage rock and roll atmosphere, and odes to the Rolling Stones, according to the release.

The new tasting room will offer wines from Tank’s full line-up, as well as exclusive Paso Robles releases throughout the year, the release said.

An official opening date has not yet been announced, but Tank wine club members will have access to an exclusive preview ahead of the public opening, according to the release.
