Naperville man, 77, dies after being struck by SUV crossing the road near entrance to Edward Hospital campus

A 77-year-old Naperville man died after he was struck Wednesday afternoon by an SUV while he was crossing the road near the entrance to the Edward Hospital campus in Naperville.

The man has been identified by authorities as Richard Namen.

The initial investigation by the Naperville Traffic Unit shows that Namen was attempting to cross Brom Drive at Martin Avenue when he was hit by a Chevrolet SUV driven by a 48-year-old Romeoville man, according to authorities.

The driver, Michael Rosales, who was not injured, was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, according to police.

The area near Martin Avenue and Brom Drive was closed for three hours while the traffic unit investigated the crash.
